The BBC
Television was launched on
2nd November 1936. The
ceremony was televised on
the two competing TV
systems at the time from studios
and transmitters at
Alexandra Palace in
London. The two competing
transmitting systems were
the Baird 240-line system and the
higher definition Marconi-EMI
405 line system.
